Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Bentley's custom coachbuilding division, Mulliner, has designed an exclusive key case to mark the centennial of the company. It is constructed of Dark stained Walnut with Piano Black Veneer and includes a fluttering "B" paperweight, keys, and an unreleased booklet with 1930s 8 Litre images.

This is the ideal method to welcome a brand new car owner.

Aesthetics

As a design-oriented company Bentley takes its aesthetics seriously. It is evident in the precise position of its quilting, the choice of leather sourced from by-products of cattle, the wood that comes from sustainably managed forests and the ingenious patterns that are etched on its levers. As you approach a vehicle like the Continental GT W12, its stunning design is accentuated by carefully curated lighting.

The Continental GT is Bentley's most sophisticated open-top vehicle. The rear tonneau, for instance, displayed the largest piece of dark-stained, book-matched Burr Walnut veneer ever applied to an actual production Bentley. Similarly, the electrically-operated glass sunroof and champagne cooler that incorporated hand-blown and hand-cut lead crystal bottles marked a new benchmark in luxury and innovation.

Bentley is the most sought-after brand in the automotive industry worldwide due to its distinctive design and workmanship. The company continues to push the limits with the latest technology and craft, including the introduction of a digital instrument cluster as well as an electric tilt-opening rear glass sunroof, a custom-designed docking station for Apple iPads, and electrochromic  glass that can be switched between opaque and transparent at the touch of an arrow.

A century after its inception, Bentley - now under sole Volkswagen ownership following years of wrangling with BMW - celebrated its centenary in 2019. The marque planned a series of special events and launches to mark the historic occasion before the pandemic was declared a priority.

This amazing power is coupled with a new suspension system that provides Bentley's trademark smooth ride.

In celebration of its Centenary, Bentley introduced a custom-designed specification called the Centenary Specification for cars manufactured in 2019. This adds to the celebration. A custom Bentley key case is included in the Centenary Specification, making the Bentley experience all-inclusive.

Bentley's distinctive design reflects the company's values, which include fine craftsmanship engineering expertise and cutting-edge technology. Over 4,000 employees work at its Crewe headquarters, responsible for the development, design and production of Bentley automobiles. These workers apply the skills that have been passed down through generations to cutting-edge automotive technologies. This is British manufacturing at its finest.

Personalisation

Bentley's Mulliner division lets customers design their own vehicle. Guests sit at a series of images referred to as "mood stations" and pick a collection of photos ranging from picturesque landscapes to sporting events that are inspiring to them. Each time a selection is made the pattern that emerges is the model preference for color, style and design for the personalized Bentley.

The guests receive the keys in a case designed by hand that houses the R.F.I.D. enabled key cards. The keys are also equipped with Bentley Muliner Personalised Welcome Lamps that light up the door's opening path with the owner's name and/or emblem when they make their way towards the vehicle.

Bentley estimates that it takes about 500 man-hours to construct and construct a Mulsanne. The reluctance to embrace modern technology is the main factor to this lengthy and laborious process. The Crewe factory workers don't use a machine to space perfectly matched leather seats. Instead, they do it by hand. Drivers are required to park their vehicles manually, rather than using the built-in sensors to guide them into perpendicular and parallel spaces.

Bentley displayed its Mulliner personalization abilities with a special Mulsanne W.O. Edition, which pays tribute to founder William Osler Bentley. The Mulsanne W.O.
